Worship Ministry
Do you ever find yourself wondering what it really means to “worship” God? Have you ever been confused about what genuine worship consists of, or about why worshiping God is so important? Here at Community Church we believe that worship is a vital and integral part of experiencing a healthy and powerful relationship with God.
We worship God together because we are God’s people, chosen specifically by Him to spread His fame and share of His saving presence and power in our lives. Worshiping God together as a church is an extension of what each of us are created to do on a daily and ongoing basis in our personal lives. Worship is not a “once-a-week, optional activity” for those of us who may be more naturally drawn to expressions of faith through art and creativity. Instead, worshiping God is the aim of all we do, say, and think as individuals and as a church. It is our privilege and honor to pour out our life’s efforts and events which culminate in an offering of praise and worship to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The Bible explains much more than we could begin to share here about living lives of worship for God. If you would like to take a deeper look about what true worship is all about, here are a few Bible passages to get you started:
1 Peter 2:9 (ESV): "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
Hebrews 13:15-16 (ESV): "Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."
Colossians 3:16-17 (ESV): "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Romans 12:1-2 (ESV): "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
